MANGALURU: Prime Minister's Mudra Scheme dovetailed with NDA government's move to permit India Post to undertake banking activities will spur entrepreneurship at rural level, averred Nalin Kumar Kateel, DK MP.
With India Post already into e-marketing activities for online retailers, entrepreneurs who manufacture products using loans provided under the scheme can follow suit and dispatch their products using e-marketing services of India Post, he said.
Inaugurating the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana mega camp organized by Syndicate Bank, the lead bank for Dakshina Kannada, Nalin said with PM striving to stoke seeds of entrepreneurship with Mudra scheme, it is imperative for entrepreneurship to make full use of it. "The products that you manufacture using loans provided under the scheme can be dispatched to end users through India Post who have post offices even in the remotest of places," he said.
With Mudra yojana looking at lending loans to small and medium enterprises up to Rs 10 lakh under Shishu, Kishore and Tarun categories, Nalin said focus of the camps undertaken across India from September 25 to October 2 is to lend under Kishore category where beneficiaries are given loans up to Rs 50,000 to start their units. Urging bankers to ensure due publicity to the scheme, he said it is reflective of the 30 major schemes brought by NDA government.
Referring to extensive drive undertaken by banks across India in general and DK district regarded as cradle of banking in particular to ensure success of PM Jan Dhan yojana, MP said the overwhelming success that Jan Dhan Yojana registered in DK only amplifies role of implementing agencies in ensuring the success of any scheme - be it of the state or the central government. "It is incumbent on you to ensure the success of any government scheme," he said.
