Maharashtra government to train 50,000 employees under KRA program

Mumbai, Sep 5 (PTI) Maharashtra government has decided to provide training to over 50,000 employees as part of their Key Result Area (KRA) program to enhance their performance and bring them on par in competence with the corporate sector.

  During this program, the government intends to train 55,000 employees out of total 11 lakh across the state in the first phase.

The government is focusing on training bureaucrats including fresh Class-I officers and those reaching the age of 50.  The government has set up the KRA with an aim to analyse the performance of employees.

  According to Ajit Deshmukh, in charge of the training programe, experts have set a syllabus to train employees in a manner that will change their views and motivate them to perform better.

  Deshmukh is the under secretary of General Administration Department (GAD).

  “Class I and II officers will be given training at YASHADA in Pune.

It is a month long residential training in which they will be given training of planning, coordination, implementation and development.

”  They will also be given training of public administration, management skills, works related to budget and finance, using of human resource, various laws and develop skills in computer and information technology, he added.

  "In future, there is a possibility that we don't fill up vacant posts in government offices.

Instead, it will be expected that everyone should have ability of multi tasking," he said.

  Deshmukh said that whether the employee is a clerk or an officer, he will be expected to work using technology like they do in the corporate sector.

  Though the decision to train employees was taken in 2011 during Prithviraj Chavan’s regime, the Fadnavis government has started its implementation.

  It is mandatory for Mantralaya staff, employee of all state departments including Zilla Parishad, Collectorate and Tehsil office to undertake this programme, he said.

  Deshmukh said that in the upcoming days, the training will be linked with a confidential report.

  "The state has decided to conduct examination after every year over the syllabus to assess the performance of the trained employee.

If someone’s result is poor, he will be once again sent for training," he said.

  Apart from YASHADA in Pune, Government Training Institutes are available in each district, and headquarters of six revenue commissionerate has the facility of residential training.

  The state government has allocated Rs 1000 each for their training expenditure.
